In light of today’s grand opening of the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City, I thought I would re-post this as a tribue to all who lost loved ones on 9/11.
We travelled to NYC specifically to pay tribute to the heroes who risked thier lives to save others on 9/11.
We love NYC and have been there many times. This trip was devoted to reflecting on the events of that terrible day, and paying personal tribute to the men and women who were injured or lost thier lives that day. Ironically, one of the flight attendants on one of the planes that hit the Twin Towers was from our home town.
When we visited, the new tower being built as a memorial was only partially finished. The area was under tight security, and we applied for tickets in advance and were given a tour of the memorial area. Security was reminiscent of an airport, very well controlled.
The crowd was somber and polite as we toured the grounds. It was a special moment, as we reflected back on that day, and how our lives have been affected ever since. And let us not forget the heroes at the Pentagon, and those who said “Let’s Roll” as they tried to save lives in that plane over Pennsylvania. They are all heroes.
I have attached several pictures, more than I usually devote to any post, and I hope as you review them you reflect back on that day.
None of us will ever be the same. Our country will never be the same. But I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Please post your comments and feelings about that day. I have also attached a link to the 9/11 Memorial Website.
