We took a short trip over the weekend to visit family in Massachusetts.
We flew into Providence Rhode Island from Charlotte North Carolina.
When we printed our boarding passes we were pleased to see “TSA PRECHK” in bold print right below our names on our boarding passes.
This meant that we would not have to go through the dreaded ritual at the TSA screening area. We would get to bypass the usual procedures and basically just walk right on into the terminal.
We DID NOT have to take off our shoes.
We DID NOT have to remove our jackets.
We DID NOT have to remove our small toiletries bag from our suitcase.
We DID have to go through the metal detector.
We DID have to remove our cellphone and place it into the bin.
We DID have to send our carry-on luggage through the X-ray.
But the things we DIDN’T have to do made for a very speedy trip through the TSA security checkpoint.
We do a lot of traveling, and we have frequent flyer accounts, so this may be why we frequently get selected for the TSA PRECHK.
It saved us a great deal of time and frustration both departing and arriving. I think it’s a great idea. It frees up the TSA agents to spend more time scrutinizing those who may not have an obviously clean travel history.
Finally I can say Kudos to the TSA!
